Celle qui dort
Bernard Foglino
A miserable, rainy weekend. A godforsaken little town in eastern France, surrounded by foreboding forests and hostile nature. That’s the unlikely venue for a book fair that Fabrice Della Torre, aging author, has been invited to. Stuck for decades in a routine writing style that still manages to stay up-to-date, most of Fabrice’s best work lays behind him.
He didn’t turn the invitation down and he wishes he had. Especially when a disagreeable-looking dwarf asks Fabrice to autograph a copy of his latest novel for his wife, Belle, who has read all of Fabrice’s books. Della Torre has always had an instinctively fearful reaction to dwarves. Petrified, a few hours later, he winds up agreeing to the freak’s proposition.
Deep in the forest, the dwarf’s cottage awaits him. In a bedroom as brightly lit as in a fairy tale, Belle lies sleeping. Della Torre’s nightmare has begun.
Suspense; nostalgia for a lost paradise; guilt… As the hours tick by, Della Torre, will finally discover his own true face.
