Copi
  • Copi, whose real name was Raoul Damonte, was born in Buenos Aires in 1939. As an exile in Paris, he made a name for himself in the 60s with his droll, intelligent weekly comic strip for the Nouvel Observateur, in which the heroine talks mostly to a chicken, who was no other than Copi himself.

    A unique and provocative writer of novels (L’Urugayen, Le Bal des folles, La vie est un tango, La Guerre des Pédés, published by Christian Bourgois, Albin Michel and Belfond) short stories and a great number of plays now staged around the world, including Loretta Strong, Une visite inopportune, Le Frigo, etc.He died in Paris in 1987.
