Jean Real

• Jean Réal was born in 1950. He is a documentary filmmaker and a writer. He has written an essay called L’Homme et la Bête (Man and Beasts, Éd. Stock, 1999), and Voronoff, a biography about the Russian surgeon who paved the way for xenografts (Éd. Stock, 2001). In the course of his explorations of the relationships between human and animal bodies through religious beliefs, visual images and medicine, he stumbled across the animal trials. He has made a great number of documentaries about art, artistic techniques and artists.
