Julia Kristeva

Bulgarian by birth, Julia Kristeva has lived in France for over 50 years. She is a writer, psychoanalyst, emeritus professor at Paris 7-Diderot University, and a full member of the Psychoanalytic Society of Paris. She has received honorary degrees from numerous universities in the USA, Canada, and Europe where she teaches regularly. In December, 2004, she became the first winner of the Holberg Prize; she was awarded the Hannah Arendt Prize two years later, and the Vaclav Havel Prize in 2008. She has written nearly 30 books, all of which have been entirely translated into English.
