Jérôme Chantreau

Jérôme Chantreau’s childhood was divided between Paris and the forests of northwestern France’s Mayenne region in. After graduating with a degree in literature, he opened a riding center and studied forest management. He is currently teaching French in France’s Basque Country region. He has written two novels: Avant que naisse la forêt (Before the Forest Was Born), which won a grab bag of prizes in 2016 (Cultura/Femme actuelle, François Augiéras, Plume d’or Best Début Novel), and was short-listed for 16 more; and Les Enfants de ma mère (My Mother’s Children) in 2018.
