La Princesse angine
Roland Topor
A little girl, Angina, who says she is a princess, travels this tale in an elephant-truck. She is accompanied on her journey by a chancellor who is fond of red wine and a young man in blue jeans, Jonathan. She accomplishes a long voyage (Lourdes, Mecca, Jerusalem) in order to find her uncle, who lives in Lisieux. But chancellors always get lost and princesses with treasures attract trouble... While Angina may escape from the horrible Beard Brothers and the ferocious accomplices Gujin and Kolbetov, she can’t get away from her own lies. Angina will inevitably remind you of one of Lewis Caroll’s little girls, perhaps Alice’s somewhat more intellectual sister. In an atmosphere that is uneasy, without being too serious, this dark yet affectionate tale plays with time, while paying homage to a mysterious 19th century: one of games, anxiety and puzzling engravings.
