Max Corneloup, a writer of serialized novels, has just moved into number 5 rue de la Doulce Belette. Take Care of the Dog is a veritable film noir ! The author’s concept: set up a fragmented structure allowing for a series of short sequences; include lots of unexpected plot twists; use a very visual writing style for describing the setting and characters, and for the lively dialogues. The result is an overwhelmingly entertaining page-turner. J. M. Erre never lets us catch our breath. As in a treasure hunt or a labyrinth, everyone is looking for answers, hesitating… groping from laughter to derision, right up to the epilogue.
