Skoda
Olivier Sillig
A man comes to. His unlucky comrades lie scattered around him. They are all dead. The story is set in a country that goes unnamed. The man moves away. A few meters away, a car, a Skoda, is stopped. It was also the target of an air raid. A man and a woman are sprawled inside. Dead. Only an infant is still breathing. After a moment’s hesitation, the man takes the child with him and sets off down the road.
A fable about war in our world. Europe or elsewhere. The absurdity and the horror of daily life. Counterbalanced by the beauty of the ties that are forged between the man and the child. Life against death.
