Pur sang
La Marche du rêveurFranck Bouysse
In this first volume in the trilogy of Elias’s adventures, we are introduced to a hero grappling with a terrible secret: his own roots. Although he was raised in Eden Creek, a remote region in Montana, and believed himself to be the descendant of two Native Americans, Papa and Mama Tullsa, upon their deaths, he discovers that his true parents were two French immigrants, Charles and Estelle Greenhill. Having moved to Eden Creek when Elias was three years old, they were struck down by a terrible epidemic that decimated the community, barely leaving them time to entrust their son to the care of the Tullsas. The Indian couple never learned why the Greenhills had chosen to move to such a remote place.
To find out the truth, Elias goes first to his birthplace in Oregon and then decides to track down his family in France, in a village called La-Croix-du-Loup that has been the home of generations of his ancestors, the Montverts.
The journey represents a veritable uprooting for Elias, who is uncomfortable in the modern world but is fiercely determined to get to the bottom of his own origins.
In the village, he meets a mysterious but well-meaning Scotsman who offers him a place to stay and seems to intuitively understand what has brought Elias to this remote part of France.
Elias will take a brutal dive into the secrecy and violence that prevailed at his birth.
An exciting and imaginative page-turner, Pur sang is a real thriller, with all the themes that have made the author so successful: regional focus, nature, crime and family secrets.
