A Blank Book is a rare book. Published in 1970 in Milan, there had never been a translation or a new edition (until now). It allows us to discover a Copi less concerned with darkening pages than with underscoring the silence of the blank page.
Within this silence, he concocts an explosive universe to which he alone holds the key, yet he does it in a casual way, following where his inspiration leads him – but what an extraordinary inspiration it is!
Is it a prayer book, a comic book, a tall tale, the beginning of a novel… or could it be the last act of a comedy? Above all, this is an inimitable work of art; it is quite possible that no one has ever before written and drawn with such off-handed spontaneity.
